Planning a Family Vacation

family vacation

If you are planning a family vacation, make sure you visualize each step of the trip. Start planning a week before the trip and create a list of all the things you need to take along. Then, add to it as you go. This way, you’ll have thought of everything, and you’ll have a more successful vacation.

Puritan roots of family vacations

Puritans played a major role in the colonization of much of the United States. These people were English Christians who disagreed with many of the practices of the Church of England. In addition, many of the Pilgrims were Separatists and sought to leave the Church. These people lived in harsh conditions.

Puritan families lived in small homes with only one room and a single fireplace. They slept in makeshift mattresses near the fire to keep warm. Finding and carrying firewood for the family’s fire was a major job during the winter months. They wore heavy clothes and were wrapped in heavy blankets in order to keep warm. As a result, children were treated very differently than they are today.
