A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about our upcoming visit to Kennywood. Well it happened, we went and we all had a blast. No it’s the not the end of the post! Check out our pics and then grab your own tickets and go!

For an entire week, the boys would not stop asking, “When is Kennywood Day?” Our answer was always the same, “Tuesday is Kennywood Day.” This was the first time that we were going to an Amusement Park with the boys. I guess you can call us paranoid or whatever, but these boys like to run and play, and forget about us. So, while we were excited as well, we were also extremely nervous.
Let say one thing, however, these boys have never behaved as well as they did at Kennywood. We were extremely surprised and relieved, and it made our visit AWESOME!
We arrived and found some awesome parking spots, considering the park lots were filled to the brim on a Tuesday no less! The boys had fun walking and running down the path to the gates. Our tickets were waiting for us at Guest Relations and I got to meet one of the Supervisors, Jeff, who welcomed me and my family to the park. It was very nice and warm, and I just knew the rest of the day was going to be just as good.
Our eldest even got to ride his first roller coaster! He and his Dad went on the Sky Rocket on our way out of the park, while I took the little boys on Garfield’s Nightmare. And then, they rode it again, and again by themselves. It’s like a 3D gondola ride. Super cute for little kids.
The Sky Rocket is described as:
A seriously twisted, pulse detonating, supercharged, stratospheric new ride experience! Feel the seismic surge of a launch that takes you from zero to 50 mph in under 3 seconds! Take a full-throttle, 95-foot vertical climb and plummet 90 degrees due south! It’s an upside down, downside up, sky-flying adventure you won’t soon forget.
I wish we could have taken a picture of that! He has said that next time he wants to ride all of the coasters. I totally remember that feeling. I was 16 when I went on my first coaster. My brave little man is only 8! So excited for him!
Heading Into Kennywood
We couldn’t pass up on this perfect picturesque moment. With the trees in the background and this smooth talkin’ cowboy! You can find Cowboy Joe as soon as you enter the park.
Water Rides and the Pittsburg* Plunge
This ride is one of my all time favorites. You get the thrill of a coaster with a big splash! It also has some history behind it.
An impressive shoot-the-chute ride: the Pittsburg Plunge! A gigantic splash soaks the 20-passenger and onlookers as the boat plunges down a 50-foot drop.
*From 1890 – 1911 Pittsburgh was spelled without the ‘h’. ‘Pittsburg Plunge’ carries the spelling of the era.
The boys loved standing on the bridge waiting to get even more soaked! They did it a total of three times! Each time they would turn to me and yell, “Mommy did you take the picture?!” It was absolutely adorable.
Next we went into Kiddie Land. The little boys had a wonderful time there, and were able to run around and get on many rides. One thing the boys said that stuck with me was, “We only wish it had a sprinkler, so we could cool off while we played in the sandbox.” Now that’s an amazing idea, I think!
The boys rode The Lil’ Phantom at least five or six times each. Sully said he was building up courage to get onto the Sky Rocket. I guess it worked! We plan on visiting Kennywood a few more times this Summer and make even more memories!
