As a woman, I made it my mission to be self-reliant and self-efficient. I knew that my dad wasn’t always going to be there nor was my husband. So I took it upon myself to learn as much as I can about DIY projects when it comes to vehicles. Most of us just don’t have the time to take our cars to our nearest service center or even to our local dealerships for simple maintenance right? Right! So I’m going to show you how you can Change Your Headlight in Seven Easy Steps! You’ll thank me later, I’m sure of it!
Identify bulb type.
This can be done by looking in your car’s owner manual or by simply removing the bulb and taking it to an auto store. Once there, they can help you find the right bulb for your vehicle.
Open and prop your vehicle’s hood.
Easy right? Well let me tell you, I’ve seen people make the simple mistake of not propping the hood and getting hurt. Don’t want to throw another “duh” at ya’ll but make sure you use the vehicle’s prop tool to ensure safety.
Remove the power connector and dust cover
This may require a slight turn, wriggling and twisting to get it loose. Just do it gently, I don’t want to be blamed for broken wires.
Pull out the Bulb Housing
It may require the same steps as above, slight turning, wriggling, and some more twisting. Again, be sure to do it gently.
Line up the bulb housing
Always make sure that the bulb housing is lined up with the open socket. Once it’s all plugged in, move on to the next step. You’re almost done!
Slide the bulb back in place
I like to give the bulb a light twist to make sure it’s fully in place and ready to be closed up.
Check the headlights
Make sure the new bulb works. Turn the headlights on and off a few times to ensure functionality.
