If you live in a mid to large city then you understand perfectly well how hard it is to find a parking space at work or school. It’s always the same routine: get to the parking lot, follow people around, drive some and more, and hope you can at least get a spot at the back of the lot. There has to be a way to improve your chances of finding a spot, right? The following list includes a few common fixes if you just can’t seem to find a parking spot.
Change Your Routine
One of the fastest ways to find a parking spot is to simply come when traffic isn’t so bad. Yes, you might have to wake up a little bit earlier but doing so will help you get that prime spot right upfront. Test out different times of the day to get to work or school. After a while, you will find that sweet spot, which will allow you to never have to rush around looking for a spot to park in.
Change the Vehicle
Surprisingly, the type of vehicle you drive often will determine if you find a parking spot or not. Trucks take a lot of space and therefore may not be able to find a large enough spot to park in without sticking right out. Therefore, if you or your husband drive a large truck then it might be time to trade that in for a smaller vehicle. Compact cars have some other advantages in addition to being easy to park. They are also fuel-efficient and will often have their own designated parking spaces.
An unknown fact about carpooling is that they not only have their own lanes on the highway, but most cities will also implement their own carpool parking spaces. This means if you are able to gather up a couple of your co-workers, you may be able to not only save money on gas but also easily find a parking space when you get to work. An additional benefit is that many of these spaces are actually located rather close to their respective buildings.
Finding a parking space can be very frustrating. The constant circling of the parking lot looking at every inch for a spot can drive anyone crazy. Therefore, it is highly recommended for drivers to adhere to the tips listed above to begin increasing their chances of finding a parking spot each and every morning.
