They say that “Everything is bigger in Texas”, and because the Lone Star State is far enough south that there’s little to no snow and ice on the ground for the winter the number of holiday celebrations during the winter months are no exceptions. Especially San Antonio, the heart of South Central Texas, when it comes to showing Holiday cheer they go all out.
From the historic Riverwalk, which gets lit up every year, and the annual Alamo Square Christmas tree, to the outlying neighborhoods all around the city, San Antonio lets their holiday flag fly high. Here are three destinations around the city you need to see.
Six Flags Fiesta Texas
Unlike parks in the north, winter doesn’t mean that rides get shut down. Six Flags Fiesta Texas keeps the party going during the winter with their holiday in the park. You’ll get to meet Santa, get to mingle in the park with holiday characters, and a Giant Christmas tree creates a magical holiday landscape. The Winter Wonderland is filled with Holiday Lights Displays, Ice Sculptures and even Snow.
SeaWorld San Antonio
While most of the marine animals have the winter off, SeaWorld transforms itself with the largest Christmas display in Texas. The park contains over 5 million lights spread out over 250 acres and is action packed with special selfie spots all over the park for great pictures with a unique holiday twist
The San Antonio Zoo
Not to be outdone by the guys at SeaWorld, the San Antonio Zoo goes all out for the holidays. Kids get to meet Santa and give him their holiday wish list. They can take a turn cutting the ice on the new ice rink There are tons of light displays all over the Zoo, and this year you can book a special dining experience with Mrs. Claus.
The Lone Star State does everything big, including the holidays. Everywhere you turn in San Antonio you can find something to get your holiday spirit pumping and keep it going all winter long. Just because there’s little to no snow, doesn’t mean that you can have a perfect Christmas in San Antonio.
