Here’s an awesome video from Pampers celebrating Mother’s Day 2014 saying #ThanksBaby:
My Dearest Sons,
My dear dear boys. There’s so much I want to tell you, and while you may understand some of it now, the rest you will understand when you are older. Just know that if it wasn’t for the three of you, I would never be able to be called a Mother. I would have never become a Mother. I wouldn’t know what it would feel like to be up all night with a teething baby, or a toddler who just refused to go to sleep and defy his own body into seeing the sunrise in the morning, or experience a precocious three year-old’s sinister humor and duck while a foam dart is being flung right towards my head. I would never have experienced any of these things, the sad, the happy, the angry moments, none of it.
Sully, you my wonderful, intelligent, pain in the butt son, you have no idea what you did to my heart. I don’t know if it was the sudden separation of your parents, or the constant back and forth of babysitters, but I’ll never forget the first time we all went out as a family and you called me Mommy. Even now, as I write this, I get goosebumps, and I’m fighting tears threatening to burst behind my eyelids. I’ll never forget the way you would cling to my hand, or gently tug at me to get my attention. I’ll never forget the first time you snuck into bed with your dad and me, and snuggled up to me. It became a routine, and I would always wake up right at six in the morning anticipating your “sneaking” into the bed. You have grown into the most perfect eight year old. You are kind, intelligent, funny, witty, and most importantly caring and loving. I am so happy to be a part of who you have become.
Giovanni, my independant, Type A personality son. Nothing ever seems to faze you. You have always known what you wanted and how you were going to get it. You have defied all rules and regulations we have set for you, and yet you always seem to know just what to say so you won’t get in trouble. You always seem to amaze me, how you always have an answer for everything, even my rhetorical questions. I’ve always admired your strength. You are by far the stronger of the three of you. You have a mind of your own and you’re not afraid to show it. Even now, at only six years old, your streak of independence is definitely something I envy. I’ve always loved watching you take things apart and put them back together. I’ve loved watching you build things, and how quickly you learn something new. I am so proud of you, my stubborn, intelligent, and caring and loving son. You have exceeded all of my expectations, and I look forward to many more all-nighters with you.
Levi, you, you have stolen my heart, from the moment I set eyes on you. You were tiny and in your carrier, and yet, you reached your little tiny arms out for me to carry you. I called you my bobble head. That’s how tiny you were. Only four months old. I’ll never forget the first time you woke up at three in the morning. I let your dad sleep, and I came into your room. I changed your diaper and made you a bottle, only you wouldn’t take the bottle. I tried everything to get you back to sleep. Finally I realized you were hungry and not for a bottle! In the middle of the night you ate two jars of Chicken Noodle soup and one and a half jars of applesauce! You have always been a wonderful eater, and I’m grateful for that! You’ve always been quick to learn something, and if you were angry quick to exact your revenge. You wear your emotions on your sleeve and I love you for it. You are so in tune with your surroundings and so easily adaptable, I can’t believe how resilient you are! I’m so grateful to have been a part of so many firsts in your life, and I look forward to experiencing many more!
You boys have truly been my joie de vivre. You have allowed for me to become someone I never thought possible, a Mother. I am proud to be part of so many of your achievements and your failures, because I will always be there to pick you up and help you learn from it. There’s a saying that goes, “When a baby is born, a Mother is born.” I’m here to tell you that a Mother is born when a child enters her heart. You three are my life, and everything I’ve done from the day I said “I Do” has been for you, and always will be for you. Thank you babies, for giving me the most wonderful gift a woman can ask for!
