Today is Day 2 of the Thirty Days of Gratitude Challenge. As promised yesterday, I’m going to list three things everyday that I am grateful for. Someone posted a comment asking me if it would be hard to post 90 things over a month. I had to think about it and yes, it is going to be hard.
Because these are things that we may take for granted every single day. Some things like a filled pantry some may take for granted while others are going hungry. Things like a dollar for the bus fare are taken for granted, while others may be walking miles to get somewhere in inclement weather. The list can go on and on.
So today I’m going to list some of the “small” things that I am grateful for.
Thirty Days of Gratitude Challenge
1. Our Car
I am so unbelievably grateful for our car. When I lived back in Jersey I had access to public transportation 24/7/365. Seriously! I lived in a large metropolitan area. When I moved to Ohio everything was so far away. The city bus, which is more like a shuttle service, stopped running at a certain time. My mom had/has Doctor appointments in Pittsburgh, PA, and it became necessary to get my driver’s licence. Now we don’t have to miss appointments or worry about the taxi fare, just gas.
2. Our Dogs
I am so grateful to our dogs. Sometimes, no cross that, oftentimes, being homebound can become depressing. Our dogs actually keep our lives active. Not to mention, there’s never a dull moment with them. They are especially helpful to my mom, who is definitely more homebound than I am.
3. The Internet
Yes folks, I am grateful for the internet. Thanks to the internet I have been able to make a successful career with my blogging and freelance writing, my husband has been able to go back to school, and my mom can reconnect with her family in Italy. The internet isn’t just fun and games, it can truly be a lifesaver.
So, these are three of the things that many of us often take for granted. Thinking about these has really allowed me to look at them differently and appreciate them.
