A lot has changed in two years in the infertility world. A lot of new research has come to light, and at home insemination is even more accessible to us now. Two years ago, I introduced The Stork to you all, back then, it was by prescription only. Today, The Stork is now available over the counter – thus The Stork OTC.
In fact a study was just released this past week and it showed that In 85% of participants, (I’m still wondering why I didn’t sign up for the trial!) the Stork OTC delivered a 3.23x higher value of sperm concentration at the cervix compared to the value of sperm concentration with natural intercourse. That’s a great number and an even better concentration.
If you look at the blue arrows in the picture on the left compared to the arrows to the picture on the right, they are more than doubled.
The study was an efficacy study designed to compare the number of sperm in the cervical mucus both with the use of the Stork OTC conception kit and natural intercourse. Post-coital test data was collected after participants used both methods to evaluate concentrations of sperm in the cervical mucus.
The FDA cleared The Stork OTC for help with common fertility difficulties such as:
- Motility issues with sperm
- Diminished sperm count (low sperm count)
- Unfavorable vaginal environment
- Unexplained infertility

For less than $100 you can perform the insemination at home. Of course this doesn’t mean that you should stop charting or noting the differences or changes in your body. This just means that those of who can’t afford thousands of dollars a month in fertility treatments, can have a little break in between. The Stork does cost $79.99, but that is only a fraction of what an IUI costs, month after month at your RE’s office. Not to mention that the cervical cap insemination has a 20% success rate, that is double the success rate of an IUI.
This is a great medical advancement for all couples trying to conceive. This can aid those of us with fertility issues and LGBT couples. I love that there are so many innovative minds out there that think beyond the dollar sign and put their minds to good use. They have allowed for those of us who are TTC’ing to see a little window of hope – hopefully with a huge outcome!
