It’s okay though, Ya’ll know how much I love to cook and entertain, so I kind of like Football Sundays. This week, Chris had a couple of new friends over, so I kind of went out of my way with decorating. It all cost under $20 and so much fun to put together!
Now I’m not the best decorator, but I sure do know how to throw a food party. So since Sunday was a little chilly out, I thought some nice spicy chili would be awesome! Unfortunately with how busy I’ve been I didn’t have time to make it from scratch, and please don’t preach about the crockpot. I’ve used it once and that was it, it cooks way too slow, and I’m inpatient.
So I headed to the grocery store and picked up two pouches of Progresso Smoke House Chili. Now, if you ever have a football party, you must be aware that men need finger foods. They don’t have time to sit at a table and devour food. Instead they need spill free foods that they can carry with them as they stand and shout at the T.V! So here’s what I did all for under $20!
Head on over to the Dollar Store and pick up
- 1 football field table cloth
- 1 pk of football napkins
- 1 pk of cocktail forks
- 1-2 pks of plastic mini tumblers
- 1-2 pks of mini bowls
- 2-3 packs of Progresso Smoke House Chili – FYI if you buy 3 you can get a dollar off with this coupon!
- 1 can Rotelle Diced Tomatoes and Peppers
- 1 Bag Shredded Mexican Cheese
So it all depends on where the guys are setting up to watch the game. I set my Chili Bar up in the kitchen on one of my counters.
Setting Up the Chili Bar:
So on the counter I placed the napkins and cups, and I decorated with cute printables I found from awesome bloggers who took the time to share them with all of us. You can find those printables here. I had some Peroni beer and had them ready for the guys too.
In the mini bowls, I added some marinara sauce on the bottom, placed some meatballs, topped with shredded parm and a cocktail fork. Ready for them to eat and shout at the T.V!
For the Chili:
On the stove top, and in a small pot I placed the Smoke House Chili, some rotelle peppers, a sprinkle of the Mexican cheese, and a tablespoon of crushed red pepper. I heated it thoroughly and let it cool down a little before placing it in the tumblers.
- In a tumbler place some tortilla chips around the cup, add about 1/2 cup of chili, top with shredded cheese, and some extra tomatoes add a spoon and voila!
To keep up with the heat, I added some hot and spicy Giadiniera (picked veggies) and some home made roasted red pepper hummus with more tortilla chips.
So here it is folks, the easiest and most inexpensive game day set up ever!
