An Overview

I know I’m supposed to have weekly updates, and for that I apologize. I’ve been on Nutrisystem for the past 18 weeks. I can not even begin to tell you how much my life has changed! In fact it has changed so much that my doctor gave me the green light to start my fertility drugs. Why wasn’t I given the green light before? Simple, I was overweight, my glucose sugar levels were all over the place, and I just wasn’t doing anything about it! It’s awful knowing that you are the contributor to your health problems, until you make a lifestyle change. Then I was able to see with eyes wide open the damage I was doing to myself.

If you know me in real life, I’m not a big eater: MAJOR PROBLEM!!! When I did eat it was always the wrong foods. I was on CafeMom the other day and a lady posted a picture of her dinner. It contained Macaroni and cheese, breaded pork chops, and corn. That’s carbohydrate overload!!! I mean even her veggie, which was corn is a carb! It’s so important to even out your protein, carbs, and good veggies. Now I know that some of you will argue that corn is a good carb. You’re right it is, however, when you add it with your pasta, it’s BAD! I’m not saying that I am now a health food afficionado and guru, but I have learned so much over the last few months.

I remember the first time I opened a Nutrisystem meal. It smelled good, didn’t look too great, but when I tasted it, it was good! Just like with any foods, you begin to learn what you like and what you don’t like.  Dieting is not meant to be easy, you have to commit to it. I have and because I read and learned and used the forums, I can even cook healthier now. The Nutrisystem website, is filled with hundreds of delicious and healthy recipes! I use them on those nights when I don’t want to eat another veggie lasagna!

The Routine

Caprese Salad - Nutrisystem Recipe

Caprese Salad

I have become accustomed to the routine. When I go shopping I buy leaner meats and a whole lot more veggies and fruits. I take my Nutrisystem planner with me so that I can make sure I got all of my superfoods. I also take a few recipes with me so that I can shop ahead of time for them.

  • I heat up a breakfast around 8am
  • Around 10am or 11am I drink a protein shake
  • Around 1ish I’ll have a fruit or veggi with Fat Free dressing
  • Around 3pm I’ll have my lunch. Sometimes I’ll have a nutrisystem bar if I’m on the go, or a meal with a side salad
  • Around 6 or 7pm I’ll have my dinner: Most times it’s a nutrisystem meal, others is a healthy recipe right off of Nutrisystem.
  • Around 9pm I’ll have my dessert and there are tons to choose from!

I’ve always loved salad and veggies, so when it comes to adding more to my meals, I don’t mind it at all.

What I do In Between Meals

I walk or Zumba! I try to stay as active as possible, especially because I work from home. I take the dogs out on walks, or I put on a Zumba video and dance away! We finally joined our local gym, and I’m getting ready for it too!  I have never eaten as much as I do now, yet the weight is literally just melting off of me. The last few weeks has been 1lbs, or a half pound, but I did have to have surgery as well. It’s not easy, it’s not meant to be easy, but it’s worth it.
