Your car’s electrical system consists of three major components. The Battery, the Starter, and the Alternator work in harmony to provide power to all of the electrical components of your car. The Battery powers the starts which turns the crankshaft and makes the engine run. Once the engine is started, the Alternator belt spins the crank on the Alternator which feeds power back into the battery. If any of these three parts fails to function, your car simply will not run, so keeping up with them is vital. The fast reliable technicians at Waseca Chrysler Center offer a full electrical systems check at a great low price to keep your car running smoothly.
What is an Electrical Systems Check?
This is a three-stage process which consists of a Battery Test, Voltage Regulator Test, and Alternator Generator Test. Each stage monitors how power flows through your battery, starter and alternator. Again your electrical system is so intertwined that if any piece of it malfunctions, everything stops functioning.
Until your car starts, the battery is providing all of the currents for your car. This includes the ignition system, fuel system. These systems are precisely what creates the combustion necessary for your car to run.
The battery is what provides power, but the starter is what really gets your engine going. When you start your car, the battery provides a small amount of power for the starter motor which then spins the flywheel and turns the crankshaft of the car which moves the pistons. If you’ve ever seen those old shows where the driver has to turn the crank on the front of their car to start it then you know what your starter does.
The alternator is basically a generator. When the car is running, a belt spins the generator head of the Alternator and provides current for the car and recharges the battery. While a car can start with a faulty alternator, it won’t run for an extended period of time because eventually the battery will run out of power.
A complete electrical system check from the friendly technicians at Waseca Chrysler Center will find any small problems with either of these big three parts before your left stranded on the side of the road.
