If you are tired of your boring old backyard which doesn’t have much to do then maybe it is time you do something to add a little more fun to it. Most people go with adding a swimming pool or getting a trampoline or something along those lines. However, rather than spending a lot of money, we have five easy do it yourself projects you can take on to make your backyard more fun.
Add a bench
It is fairly simple and easy to add a bench which has a base of cinder block. All you need is ply wood to be laid on the ground and nailed in. Then you put two levels of cinder blocks on it so you have a bench that is leveled and a little high. You can then put plywood on top to form the seating. Then we recommend you add cushions so there is some comfort when you sit on the bench. You will need cinder blocks and plywood depending on how big you want the bench to be. We recommend having this bench up against a wall so you also have back rest.
When cutting the plywood, for proper precision, we recommend using a Boss hobby laser cutter. You will get the perfect cut each time and the process will be swift and easy.
Make a giant chalkboard
If you have kids in the house, you know how much they enjoy writing on the wall. Well, now you can actually have them do that. You can add a giant chalkboard to a wall in your backyard. For this, you would need to construct a wooden frame which will be around the chalkboard. For the chalkboard itself, you will need black paper, you can easily find chalkboard material paper. This type of paper will allow you to write with chalk and then wipe it off, works just like a chalkboard.
This project doesn’t require a whole lot of work from your end. To cut the frame with precision you can use a laser cutter
Decorate your fences
One easy way to decorate your boring old fences is to add colorful marbles to them. It is a simple procedure that adds a little color and a lot of aesthetic appeal to your fence. All you have to do is purchase colorful marbles, make a hole in your fence in random locations and insert the marbles in the hole. You want to make sure the hole isn’t too big, just enough for the marbles to fit and settle in. Otherwise, the marbles will fall off. With time the marble may fall out, but you can just put them back in when they do.
Make a giant xylophone
Do you have kids that have a knack for music? Well, a giant xylophone in the backyard may just help them enhance their musical skills and interest. All you need is a laser cutter and extra wood you have lying around. You cut the wood into 8 different sizes from big to small. You know like the xylophone has from one to the other from big to small. A laser cutter will help you get that perfect cut for each piece. You can then paint it any color you like and let your kids play with it. If you want the most out of it then you can even add metal sheets on top of the wood pieces to give it the perfect xylophone feel.
Tin can lanterns
If you can use a little more light in your backyard then this is probably the easiest way to go about it. Depending on your need, you can use candles or an actual light bulb inside, with a electrical connection of course. All you have to do is get empty tin cans and poke holes in them. You can make cool designs out of the holes so it actually looks good. Then you put the source of light in the can and leave them out on ledges in your backyard to provide a nice feel throughout the yard.
These DIY projects are fairly simple and anyone that has done any sort of handy work and is good with tools can do it. Most of them do require a laser cutter which you can easily use if you are familiar with wood work, it is much more easier than a saw and a lot cleaner. So rather than going out and spending hundred of dollars to add more to your backyard, you can save quite a lot with our DIY projects.
