I live in a town where everything is driving distance. No corner grocery store – but there sure is a shopping plaza a quarter mile away and another one a mile more down the road. I love small town living, but with it means spending a lot of time in your car. I’ve partnered with Century 3 Chevrolet to bring you some car features found in today’s vehicles that make driving a breeze!
I have to admit that there are some modern features out there that I wish my car had. Not only do these features make driving easy they also keep you, your family and others safe while out on the road. Modern technology has made driving a vehicle fun and safer. Imagine back in the 20’s an accident would not have been reported unless someone noticed it and even then it would take an hour or two for help. Now thanks to GPS, WiFi, OnStar, and many more features, Emergency personnel are able to locate you with ease.
If you’re anything like me, you need directions with words such as, “the Dunkin Donuts on the corner, turn left, but after the first light,” etc. Having a Built-In GPS can save you lots of time (and gas). Many have extra upgraded features as well, so you’ll know your maps are always up to date. Not to mention that this is a much safer alternative than trying to use the GPS on your phone or a portable GPS unit. Why? You never have to take your eyes off the road.
BLUETOOTH CALLING AND COMMANDS
In the age of hands-free, Built in Bluetooth has reached new heights. You can use it to make phone calls, read and respond to text messages, select music, or even to pull up certain apps on your Google or Android device. This definitely comes in handy and allows you to be safe while on the road.
Gone are the days of backing up those last few inches into your parking spot, praying that you haven’t gone too far. Cameras on vehicles now allow you to see your blind spots without having to do any fancy maneuvering in your seat. They also have sensors that will beep when you’re in danger of connecting with an object.
BLIND SPOT MONITORS
These bad boys Warn you of cars driving in your blind spots. They may provide an additional warning if you use your turn signal when there is a car next to you in another lane.
AUTO PARALLEL SYSTEMS
This seems like it’d be a must for those that have to park downtown often. Parallel parking can sometimes be a hassle, but there are actually cars that can do it automatically taking all of the work out of it for you! How neat is that?!?
Another awesome invention that saves both time and energy. No more going outside to let your car warm up on those cold winter days! Remote start allows you to turn it on (with the doors locked of course) right from inside the comfort of your home. By the time you hop in both your engine and your interior will be adequately warmed and ready to go!
