Daniella Chace has a number of books under her belt, but I had the privileged of receiving two of her most recent offerings; Turning Off Breast Cancer (A Personalized Approach to Nutrition and Detoxification in Prevention and Healing) and, Healing Smoothies (100 Research-Based, Delicious Recipes That Provide Nutrition Support for Cancer Prevention and Recovery).
Ms. Chace is a regular guest expert, Martha Stewart Living Radio, and has been on other radio and TV programs.
Turning Off Breast Cancer, is a small book jam packed with information. She touches on genetics, detoxification, self-care and supplements, but more than anything else, I enjoyed the details on different food and their nutritional content. I’ve learned so much in such a short time, I’m actually quite astonished. I knew that ginger has many health properties, but I was overwhelmed at it’s healing propensities. There are some sample menus, protein and carotenoid-rich food charts and an extensive glossary.
Healing Smoothies is a work of art. The variety of ingredients is vast and the photos are beautiful. Who would have ever thought about putting Habanero pepper in a smoothie, but that is exactly what she does in the Habenero and Citrus blend. The recipe section is broken down into 11 sections. Also included is notes on purchasing, preparing and storage of ingredients and the necessary kitchen tools used for preparation. I was especially drawn to the Cocoa Dream Blends and Wild Berry recipes. The book binding is a plus as the book opens up so that pages lay flat.
